About Us

The story of Chronos Watches begins in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1993 where Jochen and Susanne Dietrich opened their workshop. After getting married Jochen and Susanne decided to move to Cape Town, South Africa and set up shop at the Old Bible House in Greenmarket Square in 1996. Soon after we obtained our own premises in The Adderley in Adderley Street, a historic building dating back to the pre-1900's.

We employ 6 qualified people of which one has a Masters degree from Germany and Italy as well as 3 local watchmakers. We have administrative staff, an expert polisher, a clockmaker as well as an apprentice to ensure an all round sound company structure.

After our appointments for the various watch brands in the late 1990's and the stringent measures of our inhouse quality control, we were also awarded with a Fellowship of the British Horological Institute, an honour which speaks for itself. The watchmakers work as a team and assist each other in their daily challenging tasks. We constantly strive to maintain standards in this delicate industry with our versatile approach to solve the most difficult challenges.

We guarantee repairs for up to 2 years on brands such as Rolex as well as all our Clock and Antique Pocket watch resorations. We also provide a guarantee on vintage watches normally not offered in our trade. Our polishing and refurbishing department transforms the old watch into a rediscovery of the once beautiful time piece.
